Dombrowski Music Studio Policies 2020-2021

LESSON CALENDAR
From September through May, I offer 29 weeks of lesson instruction September through May (26 private lessons and 3 group lessons), as well as three studio performance classes and one studio recital. Please view the lesson calendar for details. During these months, students pay a monthly tuition rate. Additional lessons can be added per the per lesson rate at the request of the student.

From June through August, I offer summer lessons on a more flexible schedule. Students pay a per lesson rate.
"Angie is a GREAT teacher! She is wonderful with my daughter, she inspires her and is a great role model. Not only is she good with the students, she treats her teaching as a professional. She communicates well with parents, keeps track of times when lessons don’t happen due to school conflicts or illness, I never have to worry about a thing. Angie is organized, thoughtful and clearly loves to teach her students her own love of the violin. I cannot recommend anyone more highly!" - Nancy (studio parent)
STUDIO PROTOCOL - UPDATED WITH COVID-19 PROCEDURES
Both IN PERSON or ONLINE lessons are offered. Students may choose which format best fits their comfort and may switch back and forth between the options at any point.

IN PERSON LESSONS in the warmer months will be held outdoors in my backyard and if it rains, we'll move to my garage with the door open. The recommended social distancing guidelines will be in place. Masks are required as your arrive and leave. Once your lesson begins, you may choose to remove your mask. I'll have hand sanitizer accessible. The bathroom is available if needed (you'll need to wear a mask in the house), but please plan to not enter the house if possible. Feel free to change between online and in person lessons as you are comfortable.

IN PERSON LESSONS in the colder months (beginning November 10th) are offered in my front room, which is a 12x18 space. Doorways will have curtains closed and I'll have a HEPA filter running throughout the lesson times; this HEPA filter will exchange the air every 15 minutes. Masks will be required for everyone and plan to remove your shoes. There will be an a 15 minute break in between each lesson for air exchange, in which an additional box fan with filter will run. I'll disinfect in between lessons as well and hand sanitizer will be available.

DUE TO COVID, IF YOU FEEL ILL, please contact me to reschedule your lesson or request to move to an online lesson for the week. As long as you contact me before your lesson start time, I will reschedule your lesson.

ONLINE LESSONS are offered through various platforms including FaceTime, Zoom, Google Duo, or Google Meet.

MONTHLY TUITION RATES (September - May)
I offer 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90-minute lessons.

Students pay a monthly tuition September through May. Each student is required to pay this set tuition amount each month, regardless of the number of lessons taken each particular month. This tuition rate covers 9 months and includes 29 lesson weeks (26 private lessons and 3 group lessons), 3 studio performance classes, and one recital.

2020-2021 Monthly Tuition Rates:
30 minutes: $95/month

ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE
There is a $35 annual registration fee, which is due at the first lesson of the school year. This fee covers recital fees, accompaniment fees, and photocopying costs throughout the year.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Each month, I send out a reminder email with a link to the online studio lesson calendar. Any conflicts should be addressed immediately at the beginning of the month and I will work with the student to find an alternate lesson time. Students will forfeit any lesson canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson time, with the exception of reasons including illness (including COVID procedures as outlined above), family emergency, or severe weather. There are no refunds for missed lessons.

Should a student consistently miss or cancel lessons, you may be dismissed from the studio. Situations such as these will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

ILLNESS
Students must not attend lessons if they are feeling ill with something contagious. The lesson can be given online or be rescheduled when you are feeling better. DUE TO COVID, if you feel ill, please contact me to reschedule your lesson or request to move to an online lesson for the week. As long as you contact me before your lesson start time, I will reschedule your lesson.

GROUP LESSONS
There are three group lesson classes scheduled each year (see the lesson calendar for details) and the group lesson REPLACES private lessons for that specific week. The group lesson is 1.5-2 hours long and includes three to five students whose playing levels and ages are similar. The group lesson replaces each student's private lesson for the week. Each class gives students an opportunity to perform for and receive constructive criticism from their peers. Students spend the second part of the class playing music related games, learning about music history (i.e., learning about the Baroque Period with musical examples), working on music theory and ear training exercises, or working on other essential musical skills such as sight reading and technique. Participation is mandatory. DUE TO COVID, I plan to have group lessons take place in my backyard with social distancing. If weather isn't good, group lessons will move to my garage. All group lesson activities will be selected with COVID safety guidelines in mind.

STUDIO RECITAL
There is one studio recital scheduled each year. Recitals give students the opportunity to share their progress with family and friends in a supportive environment. Recitals build performance skills and help students work on overcoming performance nerves and anxiety. Participation is mandatory.

STUDIO PERFORMANCE CLASSES
Throughout the year, I offer three performance classes where students can perform part of or a whole piece for peers. Studio performance classes are offered in addition to private lessons and are included in the tuition rate.

WORKSHOPS
Throughout the year, I offer various workshops that work on a variety of topics. Topics include sight-reading, orchestral or chamber music, music theory, music history and ear training.  The workshops last 1.5 hours and I provide all materials for the class. The fee for workshops is $20/class.

PRACTICE GUIDELINES
Playing an instrument is a commitment of both time and money and will be enjoyable and rewarding with the right approach. I expect all students to approach each lesson with respect and dedication, preparing well with consistent, quality practice. If a student consistently doesn't practice, goals will be set with together with student. Should the student still not show improvement, he or she may dismissed from the studio.

OTHER LESSON EXPECTATIONS
Please come to each lesson on time with all materials (solos, etudes, scales, and theory book) assigned from the previous week along with a spiral notebook so that I can record your lesson assignments and other notes.
